Mary Lacy graduated with Honors from the University of Iowa College of Law. She served as the head of the Boulder District Attorney’s Office for eight years, from January of 2001 through January of 2009. Prior to 2001, she served as the Chief of the Sexual Assault Unit for ten years. She prosecuted thousands of county court, juvenile and felony cases throughout her twenty four years in the Boulder office.
Mary is best known for her ability and willingness to make tough decisions and her superior litigation skills. She was recognized as one of three top statewide prosecutors in the inaugural edition of Super Lawyers in Colorado. She has been recognized by invitation to join the Litigation Counsel of America.
Mary has always been dedicated to helping vulnerable individuals. She worked as an associate teacher for developmentally disabled children prior to attending law school at the University of Iowa. She also served as a Trust Officer with Dubuque Bank & Trust in Dubuque, Iowa for approximately five years. As a trust officer, she was primarily responsible for the administration of elder person’s affairs in a fiduciary capacity. As District Attorney she promoted specialists in Elder Law as a priority for her office.
Mary has been involved in nonprofits in Boulder County for over two decades. She cofounded Blue Sky Bridge, a family advocacy center in Boulder in the early 90’s. She has served on the Board of Directors for Chestor House, YWCA , Blue Sky Bridge and is currently on the Board of the Aging Services Foundation.
Mary has received numerous awards for her contributions to justice and community issues.
Mary has both a local and statewide prominence in her fields. She was elected President of the Colorado District Attorneys Council and served on the Board of the National District Attorneys Council. She has been appointed to state boards by the current Governor.
